Microsoft Word has many tools that allow you to format the text that you add to a document. But there are still some formatting options for the document itself. This can range from things such as columns to other features such as slicers. Section breaks in Word documents allow you to split your document into different parts, which you can format without affecting the rest of the document. The most common use for this is to change the orientation for a single page of your document while leaving the rest of the document in the current orientation.

But earlier, if you created a section break that you no longer needed or if you were editing someone else’s document and would like to remove section breaks in word which is already added, our suggestions below will show you.

1. Click the “Show / Hide” — Paragraph Symbol in the Paragraph section of the Home tab — to display the formatting symbols in your document. These symbols make it easier to find breakpoints.

2. Place your cursor directly before the row of the specified breakpoint and press “Del” to delete the break. Putting your cursor after a break and pressing “Backspace” will not work because the “Backspace” key will ignore the separator and delete the next character instead.

4. Click “Replace” in the editing section of the Home tab, or press “Ctrl-H” to open the Search and Replace dialog, which can search and delete multiple dividers at the same time.

5. Press the “more” button — which changes to “less” after you click to open more options. Click “special” and choose the type of divider to search, for example, “Slicers” When you select an option, Word inserts the code that represents the breaks into the field. “Search for things” such as “^ b” for section breaks or “^ m” for page breaks. As a shortcut, type one of these codes by hand.

6. Remove or replace breaks

7. Click “Replace all” to delete all selected dividers. If you want to replace the separator with another type of formatting, place the cursor in the “Replace with” field and press “Special” to select an option such as “Line breaks manually.
