Scoping with Nexthink Finder (classic)
Investigate the path used to access the website. This will show if the connection is affected by a company network component, i.e., proxy server or router. The employee can provide a valid business reason to request access or accept the limitation.
In this case, you can search for failed connections with the Applications console and start an investigation in Finder. By entering the web address as a criterion in Finder and checking all connections to that domain or website, Finder returns valuable insights into the scope of the issue.
If a proxy server is in question, then Nexthink Finder can help better understand if this is the root cause. Create an investigation targeted at the domain name of the application in question and note whether most of the device traffic is going through a particular proxy. It is also possible to make the proxy server the actual target of the investigation itself and then use it to show various analytics such as the number of failed requests or response times from the proxy. If available, reconfigure the device to an alternative proxy server. If the requested web page loads correctly, it is a good indication that the company’s proxy server may be the cause of the problem. Inform the teams responsible for the networking and proxy infrastructures within the organization of the issue and the scope of affected devices.

Check the spelling of the URL
Usually, the error is caused by a misspelled URL. Double-check the spelling and try to re-access the page.
Website is down
Sometimes, the server or service provider hosting the website may be experiencing technical problems causing the website to be unavailable. As a quick test, try accessing the website on another device or mobile phone. If the issue persists, then it is likely that the website is unavailable. If the issue does not persist, it is a problem with the company’s connection.
Refresh the page
Refreshing the page can be a quick way to fix the problem because usually, the error is a temporary one. Press CTRL+F5, which works on most browsers, or refer to your documentation if needed.
Clear cache
If the cache hasn’t been cleared for a while, some of the files within it may be corrupt. Clearing the cache can help. Select the Basic data clearing option if the user does not want to lose saved passwords and other personalized data.
Use the remote actions to clear the browser cache on Edge or Chrome (‘Clear Edge / Chrome Settings’). Clearing of the cache can be carried out remotely to assist the employee.
It may also help to clear the DNS cache on the client-side in case it is trying to retrieve the page from a site that has moved. Use the Clear DNS Cache Remote Action for this test.
Flush DNS
Flushing the DNS on the device deletes the DNS cache, which then forces a new DNS lookup. If the website or page in question was recently moved to another IP address, deleting (or flushing) all DNS entries should resolve the error. Use the Remote Action Network Management.
Confirm Network Settings
Use the Remote action Get Network Configuration to confirm that the DNS settings on the devices are correct. If they are not, ensure the correct DNS settings are used (see the step above), either by renewing the DHCP lease (ipconfig /renew) if on a DHCP enabled network or by simply entering the correct DNS server settings into the IP configuration settings of the client, if they are managed locally.
Confirm correct connection configuration
It may be necessary at times to activate a VPN to reach the DNS Servers required for name resolution. This is especially true for remote employees wanting to connect to the company’s resources such as the intranet. In this case, confirm with the employee that their VPN is connected, and if not, establish a connection and then check the access. If the problem has been solved, it should provide an insight into the same connection issue on other remote devices. Employees can be reached using an Engage Campaign to be reminded of this requirement.
Firewall and antivirus programs
Firewalls and antivirus programs might block web applications or certain IP addresses as well. If the website you are trying to access is blocked, it can cause the “ERR_CONNECTION_RESET” error. In this case, try to access the website from an external device with a disabled firewall or antivirus program. Such a procedure should only be done with websites that are reliable and known to be secure. If an unreliable website is used, the system may be exposed to viruses.
If you can gain access after disabling either the security system or the antivirus program, you should consider passlisting the website in the security applications.
Reset Google Chrome
Resetting Chrome to its default settings may help with the issue. This is done within the Advanced settings of the browser.
IMPORTANT: by resetting the web browser, all saved configurations, bookmarks, passwords, autofill forms, and similar information will be lost.
This activity can be automated using the Google Chrome Remote Action for Clear Chrome Settings.
Infrastructure fixes
An issue with ISP or company internet connection
Sometimes, the internet connection provided by the company or ISP can experience problems, and as a result, devices will fail to establish a connection. A quick way to test this would be by trying to access a known, working website with another device on the same network and through a different connection such as a mobile network. If the issue persists on the same network but not on your mobile device, then it is likely that the ISP or company has access issues.
Proxy server delay or network bandwidth capacity.
If after completion of the previous steps, the tests reveal that moving to another proxy server or different path has resolved the issue, then the problem lies with the proxy or network’s bandwidth capacity. Contact the appropriate infrastructure team to resolve the proxy issue or increase network bandwidth capacity.

Users may get the ERR_FAILED error when using the Google Chrome browser or visiting specific websites.
This kind of problem only affects your computer; it has nothing to do with the website’s server, to which you are attempting to connect. Пользователи ряда современных браузеров (в особенности это касается браузера «Google Chrome) при попытке перехода на какой-либо сайт могут столкнуться с ошибкой открытия данного сайта и соответствующим сообщением «ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED» При этом перезагрузка проблемной страницы обычно ничего не даёт, инспирируя пользователя искать в сети различные варианты решения проблемы. В данном материале я расскажу, как что за сообщение, каковы причины его появления, и как пофиксить данную и схожие ей ошибки на вашем ПК.
Что это за сообщение
В переводе с английского языка текст данного сообщения переводится как «Ошибка, соединение не удалось». И обычно означает ситуацию, когда пользовательский компьютер не смог установить соединение с нужным интернет-ресурсом по ряду следующих причин:
- Сбой в работе ОС Виндовс;
- Действие вирусных зловредов;
- Проблемы в работе интернет-браузера;

Если же они работают с данным ресурсом (и нужной вам конкретной страницей ресурса) без каких-либо проблем, тогда идём дальше;
- Перезагрузите ваш роутер. Выключите его, подождите пару минут, а потом включите вновь;
- Деинсталлируйте нежелательные расширения вашего браузера. В Хром это делается нажатием на кнопку настроек (три вертикальные точки) – «Дополнительные инструменты» — «Расширения». Выберите ненужные расширения, и удалите их, нажав на соответствующую кнопку. Перезагрузите ваш браузер;
- Выполните очистку файлов диска. Запустите «Мой компьютер» — наведите курсор на диск С, щёлкните правой клавишей мыши, выберите «Свойства» — «Общие» — «Очистка диска» — Ок;

Близкой к вышеописанной мной ошибке является ошибка «ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED». Обычно она возникает в ситуации, когда ваш браузер не смог обработать ответ прокси для какого-либо сайта.
Для исправления ошибки выполните советы, описанные мной выше для ошибки «CONNECTION_FAILED». Также рекомендую запустить командную строку от имени администратора, и там набрать следующие команды, не забывая нажимать на ввод после каждой из них:
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
Кроме того, можно попробовать сбросить настройки вашего браузера (в случае с Хром это делается переходом в «Настройки» – «Дополнительные» – «Сбросить»).
Как исправить ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED
Обычно ошибка «ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED» возникает в ситуации, когда пользовательский браузер не смог соединиться с прокси сервером. Для решения данной ошибки рекомендую выполнить весь комплекс вышеизложенных выше советов как по первой, так и по второй из вышеперечисленных ошибок.
Также рекомендую перейти в системный реестр (жмём на клавишу «Пуск», в строке поиска вводим regedit и жмём ввод). В открывшемся окне реестра переходим по ветке:
и удаляем на правой панели ключ «Proxy Enable key» (наводим курсор на данный ключ, жмём правую кнопку мыши, выбираем «Удалить»). Также здесь же выберите ключ «ProxyServer registry key» (при наличии оного) и удалите его.
Кроме того перейдите по вышеописанному маршруту (Хром – «Настройки» – «Дополнительные» — «Настройки прокси-сервера» — «Настройка сети») и снимите галочку с опции «Использовать прокси сервер для локальных подключений). Нажмите на «Ок», и перезагрузите ваш браузер.
